A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED HOUSE HANDED OVER BY THE SEVA VANITHA BRANCH OF THE GEMUNU WATCH

The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Gemunu Watch (SVBGW) ceremonially handed over a newly constructed house to Mr. B.A. Sirikumara, a dedicated civil employee of the Gemunu Watch, on 19 July 2025 at Kekirihena, Maha Oya.

The formal handing-over ceremony was marked by auspicious rituals and blessings, with the house being declared open by Dr. (Mrs.) Dilrukshi Wimalaratne, President of the SVBGW, together with Major General W.B.J.K. Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment – The Gemunu Watch.

This meritorious project was generously funded by the Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit. The construction was skillfully undertaken by the troops of the 12th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch under the close supervision of Lt Col G.S. Ranasingha RWP RSP USP, Commanding Officer of the 12 GW, and implemented under the directives of the SVBGW President.

The ceremony included traditional blessings, and the family was also gifted essential furniture and kitchen appliances to support their transition into the new home.

The event was graced by Major General W.B.J.K. Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Dr. (Mrs.) Dilrukshi Wimalaratne, members of the Seva Vanitha Branch, senior officers, officers, and other ranks from the 12 GW and the Regimental Centre of the Gemunu Watch, marking another significant milestone in the Regiment’s ongoing welfare initiatives.
