Health Camp Organized by Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch for Families of Gemunu War Heroes On 29 March 2025, the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha branch successfully organized a comprehensive health camp under the theme "ඇය රුකගනිමු" for the wives and close relatives of the families of Gemunu war heroes. This significant event was conducted in collaboration with the Provincial Director of Health Services Office in Rathnapura and the Medical Officer of Health in Kuruvita.
The health camp aimed to provide essential breast and cervical cancer screenings while raising awareness about these critical health issues. The inauguration of the camp saw active participation from several distinguished individuals and organizations, including Doctors from the Regional Director of Health Services, Health professionals, Members representing the Lions Club Rathnapura, General Manager of Hidramani-Kuruvita , The Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch, along with staff officers and other ranks.
The event was graced by Dr. Mrs. Dilrukshi Wimalarathne, the President of the Seva Vanitha branch, as the chief guest, alongside other Gemunu Seva Vanitha branch members.
This initiative was designed to uplift the well-being of the families of Gemunu Regiment officers, other ranks, and their family members. Participants who attended the health camp underwent various health assessments, including Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements, blood glucose tests, and breast and cervical cancer prevention tests.
Overall, over 120 family members of Gemunu war heroes received valuable medical consultations, which included awareness programs and demonstrations. This health camp not only focused on screenings but also aimed to empower families with information about their health and well-being. Furthermore During the event, the President donated a walking crutch to the mother of a soldier facing leg-related disability.
