GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA BRANCH EXTENDS VITAL RELIEF TO CYCLONE AFFECTED FAMILIES

Under the compassionate leadership of Mrs. Shihani Abeywardhana, President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, and the strategic guidance of Major General AMA Abeywardhana WWV RWP RSP ndc, The Colonel of the Regiment, the Gemunu Watch successfully executed the third phase of its disaster relief initiative.

This programme was specifically designed to alleviate the hardships faced by regiment members following the devastation of Cyclone “Ditwah,” which severely impacted 6 Officers and 236 Other Rankers.

The distribution ceremony, held on 20 January 2026, at the Regimental Centre, marked the symbolic handover of dry ration packs to 212 Other Rankers and Civil Employees. These essential supplies, allocated by the Army Seva Vanitha Branch, were presented to respective Commanding Officers in the presence of Senior Officers and Seva Vanitha members.

This welfare mission reaffirms the Regiment's unwavering commitment to the resilience and well being of its personnel and their families during times of crisis.
