According to the initiative of The President of The Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs. Shihani Abeywardana and The guidance and Supervision of the Colonel of the Regiment, Maj Gen AMA Abeywardana WWV RWP RSP ndc, has launched an urgent relief initiative for families affected by Cyclone “Ditwah.” Reports indicate that 6 Officers and 236 Other Rankers of the Gemunu Watch are currently facing severe hardship due to the disaster.
Demonstrating compassion and commitment, the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch personally visited several affected areas, distributing dry ration packs and offering emotional support to the impacted families.
The Colonel of the Regiment, Maj Gen AMA Abeywardana, also visited multiple locations, providing essential manpower assistance and guidance to help personnel begin their recovery.
As a continuation of the relief effort, the second stage, Dry Rations Distribution Programme was held on 08 December 2025 at the Regimental Centre, The Gemunu Watch. During the event, dry ration packs designated for 6 Officers and 236 Other Rankers were symbolically handed over to the respective Commanding Officers by the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch and The Colonel of the Regiment The Gemunu Watch.
This relief effort reflects the steadfast dedication of the Seva Vanitha Branch to the welfare and well being of Gemunu Watch soldiers and their families during moments of crisis.
