On 22 June 2025, in a grand display of military tradition and camaraderie, the Gemunu Watch Regiment held a felicitous ceremony to honor the recent promotions of Major General A M A Abeyawardana WWV RWP RSP ndc, Major General S A Hettige RSP psc, and Major General K M V Kodituwakku ndu. The event was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Major General W B J K Wimalaratne RWP RSP, the Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment, embodying the spirit of unity and pride that the regiment upholds.

The ceremony commenced with a warm and respectful welcome from the Centre Commandant, who extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly promoted officers on behalf of all ranks of the regiment. The day’s honours were further highlighted by a traditional “Guard Turnouts,” a display of discipline, precision, and regimental pride. This was followed by a formal 'Guard of Honour' at the Parade Square, where the achievements of the officers were ceremoniously acknowledged, showcasing the high regard and respect accorded to their leadership within the armed forces. In a touching tribute to the fallen heroes of the Gemunu Watch, Major General Ajith Abeyawardana, Major General Samantha Hettige, and Major General Vindana Kodituwakku laid floral tributes, paying homage to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, exemplifying the regiment’s unwavering spirit and enduring legacy.

The day was crowned by a special lunch hosted in the officers’ mess, bringing together members of the Regimental Council, senior officers, staff officers, and commanding officers in a warm, supportive environment. This gathering not only celebrated individual milestones it also reinforced the bonds of brotherhood, shared purpose, and unwavering dedication that define the Gemunu Watch, inspiring continued service with honour, pride, and unity.
