FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR BRIGADIER E K W J WIJESIRI (RTD) RSP ndc AND BRIGADIER G D S M ALWIS RWP RSP ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE

The farewell ceremony for Brigadier E K W J Wijesiri (Rtd) RSP ndc and Brigadier G D S M Alwis RWP RSP was held at the Regiment Centre on 03 November 2024 at the occasion of their retirement after completing over 33 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.

The Regimental Centre welcomed the both Chief Guests and invited them to review the Guard turnout at the entrance. Subsequently, the salute of the proud, dignified ceremonial parade at the Regimental parade Square. After that ceremonial commemoration for fallen war heroes at the monument took place. Moreover, to mark the event a group photograph was taken to highlight the event. Towards the end of the day’s program, a farewell dinner was arranged at the Officer's Mess premises. Further , Chief Gusts were accompanied to Dinner at the Officer's Mess. Major General S W B Welagedra RSP VSV USP ndc, Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch, has delivered the customary farewell speech on behalf of all Officers of the Gemunu Watch to extend a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for the service of them. Moreover to recall the salient milestone that they were archived during their career, a special video was played during the event. Also a special mementos were presented to them by the Colonel of the Regiment to appreciate the dedicated services they rendered to the Gemunu Watch.

On 04 November 2024 Officers and Other Ranks offered in a moving gestures, honored them in a street line farewell as their vehicle began to move out of the premises.

All Officers and Other Ranks of the Regimental Centre extended their heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing Highlanders for their commitment and dedication to the Gemunu Watch. They wished them a healthy, wealthy, peaceful, and prosperous life.
