The farewell ceremony for Brigadier DCVK Kulathunga USP and Brigadier DKR Perera was held at the Regiment Centre on 02 August 2025 and followed on 17 August 2025 on the occasion of their retirement after completing over 33 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.
The Regimental Centre welcomed the Chief Guests and invited them to review the Guard turnout at the entrance. Subsequently, the salute of the proud, dignified ceremonial parade of Honour at the Regimental Parade Square. A ceremonial commemoration for fallen war heroes took place at the monument. Moreover, to mark the event, group photographs were taken to highlight the event.
Towards the end of the day's program, a farewell dinner was arranged at the Officers' Mess premises. Further, Chief Gusts were accompanied to Dinner at the Officers' Mess.
Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment, the Gemunu Watch, has delivered the customary farewell speech on behalf of all Officers of the Gemunu Watch to extend a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for their service of them. Moreover, to recall the salient milestone that was achieved during their career, a special video was played during the event.
All Officers and Other Ranks of the Gemunu Watch extended their heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing Highlanders for their commitment and dedication to the Gemunu Watch. They wished them a healthy, wealthy, peaceful, and prosperous life.
