DEPUTY MINISTER OF DEFENCE VISITS REGIMENTAL CENTRE OF THE GEMUNU WATCH

The Regimental Centre of The Gemunu Watch warmly welcomed Major General K.P.A Jayasekara (Retd) WWV RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Deputy Minister of Defence, on an official visit on 16 March 2025. His arrival was marked by a ceremonial drive pass, reflecting the military traditions and respect afforded to such a high-ranking official.

The deputy minister was greeted by Major General W.B.J.K. Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment, along with Brigadier A.D. Rodrigo RWP RSP psc, Centre Commandant of The Gemunu Watch, and council members of the regiment. A Guard of Honour was accorded to him, showcasing the regiment’s commitment to military protocol.

Then Deputy Minister also took a moment to honor the fallen heroes of The Gemunu Watch by offering floral tributes, a poignant reminder of the ultimate sacrifices made by those who served the nation. This solemn act emphasized the regiment's enduring spirit and dedication to preserving their legacy.

Moreover, in his address to the assembled troops, the deputy minister commended the Army for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He underscored the critical role of the Army in maintaining peace and stability, urging all ranks to uphold operational efficiency and discipline in the face of challenges.

To commemorate the visit, a group photograph was taken at the Regimental Centre, capturing this significant occasion. Also, an interactive session followed, allowing officers and other ranks to engage with the deputy minister directly.
