The Gemunu Watch Regimental Centre proudly hosted the farewell ceremony for Major General M T I Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc on 08 December 2025,marking a momentous occasion that celebrated his dedicated service and remarkable commitment to the Gemunu Watch and Special Force Regiment.
The day began with the formal reception of the Chief Guest, who was respectfully invited to review the Guard Turnout at the entrance, atraditional symbol of honour and military precision. Soon after, the ceremony moved to the Monument for a solemn commemoration of the fallenwar heroes, paying deep respect to the brave Highlanders who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation.
A highlight of the event was the dignified Guard of Honour, proudly presented at the Regimental Parade Square. The Guard of Honour reflected the discipline, pride, and long-standing traditions upheld by the soldiers of the Gemunu Watch. To commemorate this significant moment,group photographs were captured, symbolising unity, respect, and gratitude.
All Officers and Other Ranks of the Gemunu Watch united in expressing their heartfelt appreciation to the outgoing Highlander for his loyalty.leadership, and unwavering dedication to the Regiment, Special Force Regiment and Sri Lanka Army. Warm wishes were extended for a future filled with good health, prosperity, peace, andlasting happiness.
