BRIGADIER AD RODRIGO RWP RSP psc ASSUMED DUTIES AS 23RD CENTRE COMMANDANT OF THE GEMUNU WATCH

On 12 December 2024 In a significant military ceremony held at the Regimental Headquarters in Kuruwita, Brigadier AD Rodrigo RWP RSP psc officially assumed duties as the 23rd Centre Commandant of the Regimental Centre of the Gemunu Watch. The event, marked by military formalities, was attended by many officers and other ranks from the regiment.

The proceedings commenced with a Guard Turnout, honouring Brigadier Aruna Rodrigo as he arrived at the headquarters. He was warmly welcomed by Colonel TMKC Amarakoon USP, the Deputy Centre Commandant, who expressed his congratulations for the new leadership at the entrance.

Amidst the invocation of religious blessings, Brigadier Rodrigo signed an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his new role at an auspicious time. Following this important ritual, he participated in a ceremonial commemoration at the monument dedicated to fallen war heroes, paying tribute to those who have served valiantly.

In his inaugural address, Brigadier Rodrigo expressed his gratitude for the honour of being appointed to this prestigious position, a milestone that he noted is rarely achieved in a military career. He acknowledged the significant contributions of his predecessors and the ongoing commitment of the Gemunu Watch to safeguarding the nation through various challenges since its inception.

The Incumbent Centre Commandant Brigadier Aruna Rodrigo emphasized the importance of unity and dedication among the officers and ranks of the Regimental Centre, pledging to uphold the traditions and values that define the Gemunu Watch.

As he embarks on this new chapter, the Regimental Centre looks forward to his leadership and vision, confident in his ability to guide the Gemunu Watch towards continued excellence.
