1ST BATTALION, THE GEMUNU WATCH, PROVIDING ASSISTANCE DURING ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS IN BADULLA.

The 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch provided prompt and compassionate support to civil communities in the Badulla District during severe weather conditions that disrupted daily life and essential services. Acting quickly, the Battalion deployed 5 × 120 troops at the 112 Infantry Brigade on 27 November 2025 onwards, under the directions of the 581 Infantry Brigade.

Troops assisted the affected communities by providing essential support, carrying out search and rescue operations, clearing blocked roads, and restoring essential services. Assistance was extended to communities in Polgaha Arawa, Kalugaha Kadura, Weligolla, Kahataroppa, Springwella, Kendagolla, Kuttiyagolla, and many other areas.
