ASL SECURES VITAL DEFENCE AND LOGISTICS INSIGHTS IN KINGDOM OF THAILAND DURING THE MAIDEN VISIT OF LOGISTICS STAFF COURSE 12 DELEGATION ON INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION STUDY PACKAGE (LSCDICSP) 2026
From 15 to 26 May 2026, the Army School of Logistics (ASL) successfully conducted its maiden LSCDICSP visit to Thailand under the supervision and guidance of the Commandant ASL Brigadier DIS Jayasinghe ndc psc. This historic delegation represented a significant milestone in professional military education and defence cooperation.
The delegation consisted of 33 officers, including 10 faculty members and 21 Student Officers from Sri Lanka and each Student Officer from India and Bangladesh. The co-curricular visits to diplomatic missions, military establishments and commercial entities broadened expertise in logistics, defence technology and international relations.
At the Sri Lankan Embassy in Bangkok, the delegation met with the Ambassador and received a strategic briefing from the Defence Attaché on Defence Diplomacy and Bilateral Relations. A visit to Thailand's Defence Technology Institute (DTI) exposed officers to indigenous advancements in unmanned systems, armoured vehicle modernisation and cyber defence, illustrating technology integration in military capabilities.
The first-ever institutional link-up between the ASL and the Logistics School of the Royal Thai Army provided briefings on sustainment operations, training methodologies and transport management. The delegation reviewed various career courses and exchanged operational concepts. Visits to the Royal Thai Army Command and General Staff College, Army War College and Army Training Command further strengthened military educational ties.
At the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC), the delegation studied Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief frameworks and regional crisis management, noting the ADPC's past support during Cyclone Ditva. Tours of the Sattahip Naval Base and Commercial Port highlighted coordinated maritime logistics and national security infrastructure. Additionally, the Royal Thai Navy's Naval Ordnance Department demonstrated advanced ammunition management and integrated logistics support.
Cultural and commercial visits balanced the itinerary. At Gems Gallery and the Amphawa Floating Market, officers analysed commercial supply chains, high-value asset protection and water-based distribution networks.
Supported by seamless administration, the LSCDICSP 2026 successfully enhanced the strategic and operational capabilities of the participating officers, fostering vital international cooperation for the future development of the Sri Lanka Army.
