On 23 May 2024, as Buddhists around the globe celebrated Vesak, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and parinibbana of Gautama Buddha, the Army School of Logistics (ASL) took part in this sacred tradition with a series of heartfelt and illuminating events. Under the inspired guidance of Commandant Brigadier RT Lokuthotahewa USP psc, the ASL transformed its premises into a beacon of spiritual devotion and community spirit.
The day began with a serene and uplifting Bodhi Pooja programme with a profound sermon resonated deeply with the troops, invoking merits for fallen War Heroes and extending blessings to active-duty personnel, and their families.
As night fell, the ASL shimmered with the glow of beautifully crafted Vesak lanterns, each one a testament to creativity and devotion. The evening festivities also featured a heartwarming chickpea dansela, a traditional free food distribution organized by the dedicated ASL personnel, bringing joy and nourishment to the general public.
The events were a resounding success, embraced by the Commandant, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks of ASL. This celebration of Vesak not only honoured Buddhist traditions but also strengthened the bonds within the community, lighting the path towards peace and unity.
