THE ARMY SCHOOL OF LOGISTICS SUCCESSFULLY HOSTS THE MAIDEN LOGISTICS SYMPOSIUM

The maiden Logistics Symposium organised by the Army School of Logistics was held glamorously at the auditorium, Faculty of Graduate Studies, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University on 10 June 2025 under the theme ‘Potentiality of Trincomalee as a Future Logistics Hub: potentiality, adoptability, sustainability, optimum utilization and challenges’. The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General B K G M L Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Moreover, Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff and the Chairman of the Board of Management Army School of Logistics and Major General Y A B M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Deputy Chief of Staff along with senior officers, subject expertise, the elite and the staff of ASL added glamour and colour to the event.

Following the allure cultural performances, the Commandant of Army School of Logistics delivered the welcome address. Accepting the invitation made by Brigadier R T Lokuthotahewa the Commandant of Army School of Logistics, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army addressed the elitist gathering and declared open the logistics symposium. The Logistics Journal 2025, which is a testament to the commitment and deep reflection of the student officers and the members of the academic panel was declared launched by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG.

Dr. Sanath Divakara delivered the keynote speech of the Conference. Being a distinguished academic, professional and a leader Dr. Divakara’s career reflects an exceptional blend of engineering expertise, managerial excellence and academic contribution. This brought together the expertise in the field of logistics to discuss the theme of ‘Effective Utilization of Military Potential for Exploring Avenues in the Tourism Industry in Trincomalee District to Contribute to the National Economy’. The event featured a keynote speech, and twelve research papers at the two sessions on ‘Sustainable Supply Chain Strategies for Natural Resource-Based Industries in Trincomalee: Enhancing Efficiency and Environmental Responsibility’ and ‘Effective Utilization of Military Potential for Exploring Avenues in the Tourism Industry in Trincomalee District to Contribute to the National Economy’.
